I don't think we should mock what it was like to love at fifteen. I think that if we could all love in that way (perpetually and honestly and with so much passion that we could feel ourselves ready to burst with it) then this place would be so much happier. We'd be more fulfilled and so sure, so positive- this is the one. This is the one to complete me. And we wouldn't worry about details or the future or heartbreaks to come: just the time that is now. A time that is perpetually Summer and brimming with nostalgia. Loving at fifteen is loving young and loving "forever", and it's something I regret we grow out of.
I have no idea.

that's really sweet, and sad...and very true.

fifteen came and went for me. I stayed in love before, during, and after. years later, and somehow it's still there.

I am 15 and been with my boyfriend for 2 years and 4 months! and i know lots of people say you cant love at so young you dont know what it is but when you feel safe in the arms of who holds you. when you look into the eys of your partner and you never want to look away you never want to be let go thats love but you cant have love with out hurt trust my ive been through it,got past it and loving him still. to me when i read this i took it in the way that if everyone loved the person they are with and or have been with that this place this world would be better off becasue if you remeber when you were 15 you went out had fun and just didnt care but once you are married or been together for along tme sometimes you lose that funn and happieness and its just not the same for me i hope i love when im older the same way i love now when im 15!

By the way this way a great peice and i enjoyed reading it and giving my oppinion on it thank you very much <3

This almost made me cry. I'm in love with someone like that right now, even though he's over me and has moved on to the next girl. He's one of my best friends now and I love him irrevocably, even though he broke my heart. I probably won't be able to love like this again, and that makes me very sad. Lovely. :)

Yeah, I remember "love" at 15. We held hands in the hall way between classes. That's about it. I guaranty that looking back on it later in life, you'll realize that what that is isn't passion - it's hormones.

Very true.
If these adults who say that "teens can't fall in love" would love just as much as the teens did, there wouldn't be so much divorce.

we grow out of it because it usually isn't love we're feeling at that age, it's usually just infatuation. i guess it all depends on what your idea of so-called "true love" is. an emotion that intense shouldn't be disregarded as love, but you grow up and learn and most cases you realize you weren't really in love with that person, just attached or infatuated. that's just from my own experience, though.. i could just be ignorant to love at an early age.

Totally true. I hate it when there are people that think younger "kids" don't have the same emotions as older people. I mean, it's not our fault how old we are! I'm not exactly 15 yet (one more month!) but I understand completely.

:D Awesome job, as always!

As somone who still grieves for the person she loved and lost at fifteen, I get this. I might be twenty-seven and married with a kid now, but I like to think I still love this way.

I am in love, I am sixteen.
I've loved before but not like this.
My boyfriend is nineteen and we've been together 7 months now.
I believe in forever, because if I don't believe in it it won't be.

Interesting, you know I've never let myself love anyone, truly, not as a friend, as family or anything more, not seven years ago when i was fifteen or now partly out of fear partly because I don't think I deserve it, yet anyways I've always been fascinated with others love, anyways as I said interesting

Wow. This is very pretty. I love the concept behind it and I'm surprised that more people didn't comment on it even though it made the popular. I totally agree with you in that some older people forget what it is to truly love. Of course, since most teens are so immature, they don't always love like they think they do, but it's still a very good feeling to think you love someone. And it's always nice to experience something like it, as well, even if it's not so "true." There are some adults out there who need not to sweat the details and start loving someone for who they are, not their money or looks. Or their need of a partner that can support them. You shouldn't "love" someone just because they're there.

You're right - this is almost an exact description. Being fifteen myself, I know how honest this is... loving at this age might be different from how people love when they're older, but it's a wonderful sort, and people are too quick to dismiss it. The sad thing is, I can already feel mine slipping away... I hope it never does. Not completely.

I was too busy plotting revenge and brooding to learn to love at 15.
Then again, I don't believe in love to begin with.
I think that makes me the only naysayer on this page of comments.

Nope, there was one more.

And how can you not believe in love? I'm not even talking like, the mysticism of it. It's an animal emotion which we evolved to continue the human race. It's like saying you don't believe anger.

I don't believe it's an animal emotion. I think that would be infatuation, or lust. Love didn't have to evolve for the human race to continue; just the need and want to reproduce.
Mind you, I'm a very broken and calloused person, so that probably adds to my overall outlook on love and life.

I'm sixteen and I already miss that feeling.

I just discovered personally the catch to thinking your feelings would last forever.

We really are immature in these years, aren't we?

But when we look back, it'll be beautiful.

And I'll find 'love at fifteen' again.

This really touched me, thank you for writing it.

as a 15 yr old, i am incredibly sceptical of it bein referred 2 as "true love"

sure, its a wonderful feelin, but i become cynical wen the phrase "i have never loved until now" is used too many times...

you can have that at any age.
yes, sometimes it's hard when you have seen many things and have been through too much... but the important thing is to keep alive the child that's in you, that's how you will learn that the important things are the smallest ones and that love has no age ;)

I do not regret anything. It is foolish to just think of now and never think of the future. That is how bad choices are made, and regrets are formed. Because you do not think, but instead just act. actions can lead to good, but just as much lead to bad.

If you tell yourself he loves me right now and that is all that counts, then really what future will you have? A one night stand? If that is love then I am thankful I grew out of it. Loving someone for the moment and not in the future is not passion, it isn't even love at all. Just another lie to decieve yourself in to believing that what you two are doing is okay and is right.
